Whatever you want!
Residents should bring what gives them comfort:
Clothing: Clothing should be comfortable and easy to put on and take off, safe and washable. It should fit, not too loose and not too tight. Shoes and slippers should be non-slip and fit well. Please label all items.
Furnishings: Rooms are furnished, including hospital beds, but residents may bring their own furniture or furnishings. Personal decorative items, pictures and photo albums stir memories and promote sharing. Permanent fixtures should be done by Homestead staff.
Medications: Residents must provide their prescription and over-the-counter medications, supplements, medical supplies and equipment. Residents may choose where they obtain these supplies. However, because prescriptions often change and sometimes are needed quickly, we recommend using a local source. We prefer to work with Kennebec Pharmacy, because they are especially accommodating with last-minute requests and currently deliver at no charge.
The Homesteads are proponents of natural remedies. We advocate for these alternative approaches to treatments whenever possible and support any that residents choose.
Incontinency Supplies: Residents need to supply these items. Families may assist with this, or we can provide them and include the cost in our monthly billing.
Personal Hygiene Supplies: Residents should bring their own razors and shaving cream, or an electric shaver, if preferred. Our caregivers can assist in the use of these items. The Homesteads provide items such as soap, shampoo, tissues, etc. Residents must supply their own if they require special brands.
Hobby/Personal Interest Items: Crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, handcrafts, stationery and pens can be comforting for our residents who enjoy them.
The Homesteads have TV’s and phones in common areas. Residents need to bring their own TV or phone if they want one in their room. The cable company requires each resident have their own account. It’s a good idea to set this up ahead of time. Accounts from home can be transferred.
