Accommodations that truly foster aging in place as your needs change.
The Homesteads at Cushing and Owls Head offer superior accommodations and care at a lower cost than most medical alternatives, such as nursing homes, assisted living, or dementia care units. We hope you are as excited about using this model as we are to offer it.
In recognition of the escalating cost of home care and the desire of elders to age in place in home-like settings, the homesharing model was developed as an alternative to expensive home care and equally expensive medical, institutional settings. The Homesteads at Cushing and Owls Head rent rooms to individuals who desire this accommodation. Home health care is provided, when needed, by ASK… for Home Care, a licensed home health care provider, or other individuals or providers, including services that may be covered by insurance. Not only do the Homesteads provide short term accommodations as respite for family caregivers (by the hour, day, or month), but they also provide long-term accommodations (by the month) for individuals who want to live in a supportive setting, where they can age in place successfully.

“The small model is the way of the future, I hope. The staff were caring and friendly. Dad was in a safe place because there was just enough – and not too much – attention to rules and precautions. We like it that the Homestead was nearby, but I realize not everyone can say that. I appreciate Joanne’s candor: we knew what to expect.”
“That there were only a few other people in the house – not institutional. When my Dad passed away, only Mallorie and I were with him. It was as peaceful as could be; not bureaucratic. No drama.”
“Expand! Build more of these neighborhood facilities. Maybe someday more people will be able to take advantage of what we were lucky enough to find for the end of my Dad’s life.”
